Instagram Conducts Trials on the Latest Feature to Hide the Number of Likes
Today Instagram started testing a new feature to hide the number of likes under user posts.
Previously, in 2019 Instagram had conducted a similar trial where they disabled the counting feature for various users.
However, this time is a little different, where each user will be able to decide for themselves whether they want to see what they like or not.
Instagram users can not only disable or enable the display of the number of likes on each other user's posts. They can also disable this like counter feature for themselves.
In addition, Facebook will start testing the same on their social media networks. Instagram reports that the trial feature to disable such counters has been stripped of priority since the coronavirus pandemic began.
The company said it is now reviewing user feedback on previous tests. While this feature is designed to reduce user concerns about the popularity of their posts, not everyone agrees that this is a change for the better.
A similar feature is also being tested by Youtube, where they are conducting trials to publicly hide the number of dislikes on a video. However, the creator can still see the number of dislikes on his video via Youtube Creator Studio.
