New Engine, Sony Will Remake The Last of Us 1 for Playstation 5?
Speaking of first-party developers who seem to have managed to squeeze the performance of each Playstation console to the limit, Naughty Dog seems to be one of the most effective. What they managed to show off for The Last of Us I at the end of the Playstation 3 and The Last of Us Part II at the end of the Playstation 4 is a fantastic achievement from a technical point of view. With a multiplayer project that is currently still busy being worked on, it certainly provokes curiosity about what kind of ambitious project Naughty Dog will work on next. Recent reports point to one name - The Last of Us I Remake!
This information was conveyed by a well-known gaming journalist - Jason Schreier who “divulged” this while discussing Sony's attitude which is currently said to be “very risk-averse”.
In the latest article he released, Schreier discussed how Sony officials are now starting to play it safe to only produce blockbuster-level games that are supposed to be successful globally. The same attitude that made Sony Japan ended up being abandoned by its top officials because Sony's center was no longer interested in making small games that might only be successful in Japan. The same thing also made the proposal for Days Gone 2 rejected, even though in the end, Sony Bend was given the freedom to formulate other new games that are still mysterious.
In this article, Sony highlights the existence of a studio called the Visual Arts Service Group, which has always been a supporting studio for Sony's other first parties, including Naughty Dog. Having wanted to formulate their own game as the main studio, this studio reportedly managed to lock in and pass the remake project for The Last of Us Part I (2013) codenamed T1X. The remake process is said to use a new engine that is formulated to maximize the capabilities of the Playstation 5.
Slowly but surely, said Schreier, the project was later transferred to Naughty Dog with a return, turning the Visual Arts Service Group into just a supporting studio. The project is reportedly underway and is being discussed under the banner of Naughty Dog. However, this condition caused dissatisfaction for the Visual Arts team which was followed by the departure of several high-ranking officials.
