[Rumor] Resident Evil Village Will Be a Trilogy Closing of “Resident Evil 9” Series

Ethan Winters' story won't end in the Village series yet?

The existence of the character Lady Dimitrescu has indeed succeeded in inviting a huge magnet for the Resident Evil Village series. This character is indeed shown very seductively even though his height is too abnormal. Even so, he is allegedly still a thematic antagonist character who may only appear in the series. While the story and role of Ethan Winters as a character that the player controls can continue to be explored in the Resident Evil series after Village.

Yes, rumors as well as narrative assumptions have recently surfaced. Another well-known credible Resident Evil leaker, such as AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem on his Twitter account, blew out another interesting thing regarding the relevance of the Resident Evil Village series to the Resident Evil mainline series before and after.

[Rumor] Resident Evil Village Will Be a Trilogy Closing of “Resident Evil 9” Series

Based on the information provided by Dusk Golem, the Resident Evil Village series will indeed be present like a direct sequel to the Resident Evil 7 series. However, this game is also a prequel to the new Resident Evil series afterwards. In other words, the 7th, 8th (Village) and 9th Resident Evil mainline series is currently being prepared by Capcom as a trilogy with a contiguous form of development.

In particular, Dusk Golem said that Resident Evil Village presented a story that could make some of the things that made sense in the Resident Evil 7 series. Regarding what it is, he did not explain it further (because it includes spoilers) besides the presence of the Resident Evil 9 series which serves as the trilogy closing.

The story, setting, theme, and whether Ethan will return as the main character for Resident Evil 9 are still quite speculative to discuss. Dusk Golem itself has not been able to provide this information. However, he strongly suspects that Capcom will no longer provide simple title names with "numbers" for their next new Resident Evil games.

Perhaps including the Resident Evil 9 series that is ready to come up with a naming format that is no less unique than "Village", Capcom reportedly wants to take that approach in order to present a story that feels more new and unique. If this information is true, it cannot be denied that Capcom wants to encourage fans to enjoy a new era for the Resident Evil franchise.

Meanwhile, the Resident Evil Village game series will soon be released. This game is ready to launch as a package with the Resident Evil multiplayer game - RE: Verse on May 7, 2021 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC (via Steam) platforms.
