The following is a snippet of Resident Evil Village's first gameplay on PS4

There are only a few weeks left before the successor to the highly anticipated Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, is released. Welcoming his presence, Capcom as the developer began to reveal more gameplay footage from the game built using the RE Engine. Most recently, Capcom shared 5-minute gameplay footage from Resident Evil Village running on the last-gen console.

Capcom originally planned for Resident Evil Village to be released on next-gen consoles only. However, at the Resident Evil Showcase held last January, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil Village will be released on almost all platforms including PS4 and Xbox One.

IGN, who had the opportunity to try Resident Evil Village on PS4 Pro, shared footage of the gameplay on their YouTube. Most of the footage is filled with the main character - Ethan, exploring the dungeons of the castle and fighting against mysterious hooded enemies. Then, the footage ends with Ethan climbing onto the castle balcony in the elevator before finally meeting Lady Dimitrescu from behind a window.

Games made using RE Engine always have detailed character animation and quality clothing, and Resident Evil Village is no exception. The visual quality and "life" in Resident Evil Village have significantly improved from its predecessor. Ethan's reloading animation also looks more stable now and the way he runs now is much faster. As for the enemy, the physics they have is also overhauled now, they react to every shot.

Overall, the appearance of Resident Evil Village on the PS4 Pro looks quite identical to the PS5 version. That said, it's too early to assume that the standard PS4 and Xbox One (non-X) will get similar performance or quality.

Resident Evil Village will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Google Stadia and PC on May 7.
